You can choose from between four trims when choosing a 2022 Kia Sportage: LX, Nightfall, EX, and SX Turbo. The base, or LX model has an MSRP of $24,090. You can expect an MSRP of $28,090 for the Nightfall, with the EX model slightly higher at $28,390. For the top model, the SX Turbo, the MSRP lands at $33,750. These prices can increase depending on additional features and if you choose all-wheel drive, which is available for all trims.

The 2022 Hyundai Tuscon offers five trims. The limited-edition SE has an MSRP of $24,950. Hyundai’s SEL model has a price of $28,150. A higher model, the N Line, has an MSRP of $30,750. You can expect slightly higher prices for the XRT and the Limited trims, with MSRPs of $31,400 and $34,850 respectively. Similar to the Kias, these all offer all-wheel-drive options that are slightly higher in price, though the Kias remain more affordable.

Exterior

Both the 2022 Kia Sportage and the 2022 Hyundai Tuscon are compact SUVs with similar exteriors. The Sportage comes with 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels depending on the trim. You can also expect features like high-beam assist, LED daytime lights, and projector fog lamps on the lower models with LED headlights and fog lamps on the SX turbo.

The 2022 Tuscon offers 17-inch alloy wheels on its SE trim, but 19-inch comes standard on the higher trims. Each model comes with LED headlights and high-beam assist. You might find additional features with the Limited trim like rain-sensing wipers and a panoramic sunroof.

Interior

Both of these compact SUVs offer an interior that fits five people comfortably. They each come with several cup and bottle holders and USB ports to charge your devices. Power and Specifications

The LX, Nightfall, and EX Sportages each come with a 2.4-liter in-line 4-cylinder engine with 181 horsepower. If you’re looking for more power, the SX Turbo offers a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine, putting out 240 horsepower. The Sportage also uses an electronically controlled 6-speed automatic transmission overdrive with Sportmatic® and with a 175 pound-feet of torque. SX Turbos put out even more torque, with 260 pound-feet. 2022 Kia Sportages average with a 30 mpg fuel economy on highways with a 16.4 gallon fuel tank.

Each 2022 Tuscon has the same 2.5 four-cylinder engine with 187 horsepower. You can expect 178 pound-feet of torque and an 8-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. The Tuscon has a slightly higher fuel economy at 33 mpg on highways but has a smaller tank at 14.3 gallons.

Safety features

The Sportage has several key safety features, including forward-collision avoidance assistance, lane departure warnings, and driver-attention warnings. Though additional safety features for the LX are optional, the Nightfall, EX, and SX Turbo models come standard with blind-spot collision warnings and rear cross-traffic collision warnings. You can also enjoy the benefits of smart cruise control in the SX turbo. Each vehicle comes equipped with dual front airbags, dual front seat-mounted airbags, and full-length side curtain airbags.

The Tuscon offers a safety package with blind-spot collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist, and lane-keeping assist, and lane departure warnings. You might get additional features like highway driving assistance, smart cruise control, and parking-collision avoidance assists with the top trims, like the Limited.

Technology

Both the 2022 Kia Sportage and the 20222 Hyundai Tucson offer standard technology features, like AM/FM radio, Bluetooth connectivity, smart-device integration, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Sportage comes with an 8-inch touchscreen with voice recognition, 12-volt power outlets and a six-speaker system for maximum entertainment. You can find an eight-speaker system with surround-sound, navigation, and wireless phone chargers in the EX and SX Turbo models.
