It doesn’t have to be nighttime to bring some romance to the relationship. The view from Barn Bluff and Sorin’s Bluff is breathtaking and proves you can appreciate the little things in life together. Pack a romantic lunch, enjoy a moderate hike together to the top of Sorin’s Bluff and stare into each other’s eyes as you graze on your lunch, enjoy each other’s company, and take in the gorgeous view of Red Wing.

If you’re an adventurous pair, head to Barn Bluff, so named because it resembles a barn. Barn Bluff is a 350-foot cliff that overlooks downtown Red Wing and gives those who reach the top a spectacular view of the Mississippi hugging this lovely city. However, if you’re looking for a more leisurely time, where you can be out in nature and not fear falling rocks, head over to the shorter cliff, Sorin’s Bluff. The summit of the peak features Memorial Park. There you’ll find lovely picnicking spots, an area to play disc golf, and a view as breathtaking as the one at Barn Bluff. Make a day of it and cap off your evening with the colorful Red Wing sunset.

Memorial Park is at 315 W. 4th Street. If you plan on hiking up either bluff, be sure to go prepared with some solid hiking boots, bug repellant, sunscreen, and plenty of water. For safety, the park closes at 10:30 p.m. daily.

Sheldon Theatre of Performing Arts

For classic romance, take in a performance at the Sheldon Theatre of Performing Arts. This one-of-a-kind establishment is one of the premier performing arts venues in Minnesota. An ideal destination for your next romantic outing, the ornately decorated theater has a gilded interior and hosts a vast selection of talented performances from visiting and local artists. At the end of January, you can see local talent perform in a production of the Broadway classic, “The Music Man,” or grab some tickets to “Hiplet” in mid-February. This awesome performance features the skills of the Hiplet Ballerinas of Chicago, whose signature trademark style combines hip-hop, African, Urban, and Latin dances styles with classic ballet pointe to promote inclusivity.

The Sheldon Theatre of Performing Arts sits in downtown Red Wing at 443 West 3rd St. For show details or prices, please visit the website. For information on securing the venue for your next special event, or to learn more about ticket prices, call the box office at 651-388-8700.
