2024 Kia EV9

The 2024 Kia EV9 is a revolutionary new addition to the all-electric vehicle market. This spacious SUV offers plenty of room for the whole family while delivering ample power to keep your excursions fully charged with adventure. Learn more about the Kia EV9 and discover how this vehicle may transform your time on the road.

What Is the Range for the 2024 Kia EV9?

The only known range estimate for the 2024 Kia EV9 indicates that the vehicle can travel up to 336 miles on a single charge. This figure comes from Kia and leaves some reviewers skeptical because Kia utilizes the generous Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure standard for its calculations, which delivers different results than official EPA estimates.

Most automobile pros seem to agree that the Kia EV9 will be able to cover at least 300 miles on one charge in accordance with EPA estimates. However, it’s important to note that this estimate applies only to the long-range version of the vehicle with standard 19-inch wheels. The Kia EV9 is available with several options that will change that range.

Though Kia hasn’t released an official range for its other EV9 options, the less powerful 76.1-kWh battery will last an estimated 260 miles on one charge. Upgrading to the optional 20- or 21-inch wheels will also decrease the range.

What Battery and Motor Combinations Are Available in the Kia EV9?

The standard rear-wheel drive 2024 Kia EV9 has a single 160 kW electric motor powered by a 76.1 kWh battery pack. This version can accelerate from zero to 62 mph in 8.2 seconds, a respectable speed for an electric SUV of this size.

You can purchase the rear-wheel drive EV9 in another configuration with a longer battery life. The long-range Kia EV9 features a single 150 kW (350 Nm) electric motor paired with a larger 99.8 kWh battery. This sizable battery is responsible for the vehicle’s impressive 300-mile range. However, the larger battery also translates to more weight in the SUV and slows it down considerably. The long-range EV9 accelerates from zero to 62 mph in 9.4 seconds.

Finally, you can opt for the all-wheel-drive Kia EV9, which has two electric motors delivering a combined 282 kW (600 Nm). This is the peppiest of the EV9 versions, which can accelerate from zero to 62 mph in just 6 seconds. With the optional Boost feature, you can shave 0.7 seconds off that time to speed things up even further. The Boost feature, which increases the torque output by 74 lb-ft, will be available through the Kia Connect Store.

How Long Does the Kia EV9 Take to Charge?

The 2024 Kia EV9 features a powerful 800-volt platform that’s expected to achieve an estimated range of 149 miles after just 15 minutes of charging with a DC fast charging port. Using the onboard 11-kW charger will slow your charging time considerably. In less than 25 minutes, the EV9 should be able to charge from 10% to 80% on a 230-kWh Level 3 charger.

The Kia EV9 can also deliver some electric charge to other devices. An outlet in the cargo area is ideal for setting up a TV when tailgating or powering a pump for your air mattress on the next family camping trip. Kia even plans to include vehicle-to-home functionality in the EV9, meaning owners can use their car as a backup power source in an emergency power outage.

What Other Features Does the Kia EV9 Offer?

The 2024 Kia EV9 is a spacious electric SUV that seats six or seven passengers. With second-row captain’s chairs, you’ll enjoy power-adjustable seats, heating, ventilation, and leg extensions. With second-row bench seating, you sacrifice some of these comforts but add another seat for a seven-person capacity.

The Kia EV9 rivals the Telluride in size and spaciousness. Behind the third row, you’ll find 20.2 cubic feet of storage space. With the second and third rows folded down, this increases to an impressive 81.9 cubic feet.

With the EV9, Kia plans to unveil the Kia Connect Store. This will allow over-the-air software updates so that you can purchase vehicle upgrades, such as the previously mentioned acceleration boost, via an app.

The Kia EV9 has 15 sensors, including two lidar sensors. Combined, these provide a full 360-degree field of view. This makes it possible for the vehicle to effectively detect pedestrians, cyclists, and other cars on the road. This contributes to some of the EV9’s many safety features, which include blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.

Is the 2024 Kia EV9 Eligible for Federal Tax Rebates?

The first Kia EV9 models to reach the U.S. will come from Korea and, therefore, will not be eligible for the full federal tax rebate on new electric vehicles. However, Kia plans to move production to its West Point, Georgia, facility sometime in 2024. These EV9 models will be fully eligible for the rebate. So if you’re eligible to cash in on this deal, you may want to plan accordingly.

To qualify for the federal tax rebate, your modified adjusted gross income cannot exceed $300,000 for a married couple filing jointly, $225,000 for a head of household, or $150,000 for other filers. You must purchase your electric vehicle for personal use and drive it primarily in the U.S. If this applies to you, you may qualify for a credit of up to $7,500 for your new 2024 Kia EV9.
