2024 Kia Sportage vs Kia Sorento

Two popular SUV models from Kia are the Sportage and Sorento. The 2024 versions of these vehicles offer enticing features for anyone searching for a new SUV. Here’s an overview of some of the differences between the two models that should help you decide between them.

Kia Sportage vs. Kia Sorento: Exterior Style

The Kia Sportage boasts a sleek and modern exterior design characterized by its distinctive tiger-nose grille, sleek lines, and bold wheel arches. Its sculpted body and LED headlights add to its contemporary appeal, while options of a panoramic sunroof or stylish alloy wheels enhance its overall look. Exterior color options include Ebony Black, Glacial White Pearl, Wolf Gray, Sapphire Blue, and Jungle Green.

The Kia Sorento exudes sophistication with its refined exterior styling. A bold grille and sleek LED headlights accentuate its confident stance, and sculpted contours along the body add a touch of elegance. Chrome accents are available to further elevate its upscale appearance on the road. The Sorento’s exterior colors include Snow White Pearl, Steel Gray, Gravity Blue, Aurora Black, and Platinum Graphite.

Kia Sportage vs. Kia Sorento: Interior Space

Moving inside, the 2024 Kia Sportage offers a modern and comfortable cabin with plenty of space for a compact crossover. You have some options for the cabin design, including a two-tone color scheme or an all-black cabin. With improved rear-seat legroom, passengers in the front and back have lots of space. The Sportage comes with nearly 40 cubic feet of cargo space, and you’ll even find a dual-level cargo floor for some additional versatility.

As the larger of the two vehicles, the Kia Sorento naturally has a larger interior cabin. There’s an extra row of seats, ideal for larger families or anyone who regularly has guests in their vehicle. The cargo area is a little smaller than the Sportage, with only 13 cubic feet of volume. However, you can fold down the rear seats to give yourself more space when you need it. The Sorento also has plenty of cubby storage and cupholders in the cabin, so it’s ideal for families.

Kia Sportage vs. Kia Sorento: Performance

The default powertrain in the 2024 Kia Sportage uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 187 horsepower. This engine pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and you can get either front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD).  With the standard setup, you’ll get around 25 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway — expect a little less if you opt for AWD. The Kia Sportage Hybrid gives you more power with a 1.6-liter inline-four engine and an electric motor producing 227 horsepower. This setup delivers around 42 mpg in the city and 44 mpg on the highway.

The 2024 Kia Sorento has a selection of engine options available. These engine setups are:

  • A 2.5-liter inline-four cylinder that delivers 191 horsepower.
  • A 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that delivers 281 horsepower.
  • A turbo 1.6-liter four-cylinder that pairs with an electric motor to produce 227 horsepower.

This last engine option is available in the Sorento’s hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. The plug-in produces 261 horsepower thanks to a better electric motor. You have the option of either FWD or AWD for all models except the plug-in hybrid — which only uses AWD.
