2023 Kia Telluride

The Kia brand is known for manufacturing dependable, reliable, and quality vehicles, which explains why many drivers who love off-roading turn to this automaker for a trustworthy vehicle that can take on rugged trails and terrains. The team at Tom Kadlec Kia in Rochester, Minnesota, has put together this guide to help you find out which Kia vehicles offer the most capable off-road performance.

Kia Telluride

The newest Kia Telluride is almost identical to its predecessors. It comes equipped with the same 3.8-liter V-6 engine that’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission as the previous models and continues to offer 262 lb-ft of torque and 291 horsepower.

The new Telluride’s naturally aspirated engine offers the same fuel economy as the previous model. This means that the standard front-wheel-drive (FWD) model delivers 26 mpg on the highway and 20 mpg in the city, while the optional all-wheel drive (AWD) offers 24 mpg on the highway and 19 mpg in the city.

As with previous models, the new Telluride comes with four drive models: Comfort, Sport, Eco, and Smart. With AWD, you’ll have AWD Lock and Snow drive modes to help you tackle the winter weather. The vehicle automatically calibrates the ride height for optimum control in any conditions, and it comes equipped with an independent suspension to give you a smooth ride. The Telluride’s standard towing capacity of 5,000 pounds can accommodate a wide range of needs, and if you want to tow heavier items, you can choose one of the new trim levels.

Kia Sportage X-Pro Prestige

Blending adventurous spirit with day-to-day practicality, the 2023 Sportage X-Pro Prestige is sure to improve your driving experience. With a maximum cargo space of 74.1 cubic feet and seating for five passengers, you can take on anything with this crossover SUV.

The new Sportage now comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission that generates around 187 horsepower. Its ground clearance is 7.1 or 8.3 inches, which is quite a jump from the 6.4 or 6.8 inches typical of the previous models.

The Sportage also comes standard with FWD, but if you love off-road adventures, you can choose the AWD system. The new Sportage also features new multi-terrain modes, including Sport, Smart, and Snow.

Now equipped with standard Trailer Stability Assist, the 2023 Sportage X-Pro Prestige can tow around 2,500 pounds. It has an active AWD system that acts more like a four-wheel drivetrain. The SUV’s torque can move from front to rear through its center differential. With a powerful engine and high ground clearance, the X-Pro Prestige is ideal for off-road adventures.

Kia Sorento

The all-new 2023 Kia Sorento comes with a 2.5-liter inline-four engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It generates 181 lb-ft of torque and 191 horsepower and can tow around 2,000 pounds. If you need more power, you can opt for the 2.5-liter turbo inline-four engine with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, offering an impressive 281 horsepower.

The 2023 Sorento features a redesigned suspension, all-terrain tires, heated windshields, off-road modes, and LED fog lights. It also comes with AWD for added control and security. The interior is comfortable and spacious, with three rows of seats and lots of new tech and driver-assist features. Other features of the new Sorento include:

  • 360 surround-view monitor: This feature gives you a 360-degree view of your surroundings. This can be helpful when driving, as it improves your awareness of your surroundings and makes it easier to maneuver your car.
  • Panoramic connectivity screen: This offers an integrated 25-inch display that makes it easy to connect with your surroundings and other cars on the road. The screen provides entertainment, convenience, diagnostics, navigation, and vehicle information features.

Kia Seltos

The 2023 Kia Seltos is an adventure-ready SUV with a tech-savvy cabin, an appealing design, and excellent performance. It comes with incredible amenities for long rides across various terrains. Its innovative interior is comfortable, spacious, and well equipped with all the next-level technology to suit the needs of modern-day driving. If you’re looking for an SUV that can give your journeys more capability and power, then the new Seltos is the perfect pick.

The 2023 Seltos models have two different engines. The base models come with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that generates around 146 horsepower, while the higher models come with a 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine that generates about 175 horsepower. While the base engine has a continuously variable automatic transmission, the turbo comes with a seven-speed automatic transmission. All trims, except the S variant, come standard with AWD.

The Seltos not only delivers an exhilarating and smooth ride but also achieves impressive fuel economy. With the 2.0-liter engine with FWD, you get around 29 mpg in the city, 35 mpg on the highway, and 31 mpg combined. The AWD models with the turbocharged 1.6-liter engine have a fuel economy rating of about 25 mpg in the city, 30 mpg on the highway, and 27 mpg combined.

Kia Stinger

The new Kia Stinger races to the front line of performance vehicles with its most powerful engine ever. With two different options to choose from and an incredible 4.7-second zero-to-60 acceleration time, the new Stinger specs are a sight to behold.

The Stinger’s 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine generates around 300 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque, while its 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 engine generates about 368 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque.

The Kia Stinger’s impressive acceleration and horsepower aren’t the only factors when it comes to overall performance. The vehicle’s entire design is made for high-level performance, with the following features used to improve the feel and grip of the vehicle as you drive:

  • Aerodynamic design for drag reduction.
  • 19-inch Michelin tires.
  • Brembo brakes.
  • Five drive modes for customized performance.
  • Limited slip differential for handling tight corners.
  • Electronically controlled suspension for on-road tuning.

Aside from these performance boosters, the new Stinger also provides a wide range of extras for technology and comfort, such as driver assistance safety features, heated seats, and a 10.25-inch touch-screen center console that’s both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible.
